SGS was a German tuner and manufacturer of fancy luxury automobiles. SGS (Styling - Garage) was based in the Hamburg area and was primarily concerned with body modifications and luxurious interiors.
In the early 1980s they were considered one of the most successful refiners of Mercedes-Benz and BMW vehicles. The clientele of the conspicuous and very expensive SGS models came mainly from Arab states or the USA. The vehicle offered here is one of the very rare SGS Cabriolets built in small numbers on the basis of the Mercedes-Benz 500SEC Coupé. The elegant cabriolet was first registered on 29.02.1984 at the car dealership Rosier in Menden, which the original cardboard letter occupies with only a single entry. At the time, it showed impressively what a "noble tuner", as SGS lovingly called it at the time, was able to do, in addition to the already high-quality equipment of the manufacturer. The delivery color was "anthracite gray metallic" with fine nappa leather in "black", the electrically operated convertible roof fits in black.
The equipment pleased u.a. with tinted and heat-insulating all-round glazing, front electric seats with memory adjustment, ABS, cruise control, great aluminum wheels with wide tires and a comfortable automatic climate control. But all that had its price. The well-heeled buyer clientele had depending on the equipment quickly 240,000 German Mark (German currency) - on the bill.
