This wonderful convertible of the coveted 111 series was completed in May 1971 and then, like so many of the 1,232 convertibles built, delivered to the USA. The first known owner, a gentleman from Los Angeles, kept the vehicle in his possession until 1987. Through the renowned Paul Russell and Company Restoration House, the vehicle was delivered to its new owner in New York, who kept it in his possession for the next 30 years. Everything necessary to maintain the excellent condition of the vehicle was done at that time by the specialist Paul Russel and Company. In 1997 the vehicle was put on a body-in-white and then painted in the original colour "light ivory".
In 2000, Paul Russell and Company referred the vehicle to a well-known Californian television chief, who used the vehicle for his house in Santa Barbara. He also cared a lot about the preservation of this exceptional vehicle, so that in 2010 the Mercedes-Benz ClassicCenter in Irvine, California put a lot of effort and without compromise into the new car condition of the Cabriolet. A 19-page repair invoice provides impressive proof of the quality of the work carried out.
In the year 2014, the vehicle passed through a collector to northern Germany, from whose collection we were able to acquire this unique specimen with a verifiable history.
