This elegant Mercedes-Benz 300 SC Coupé was delivered on 26.04.1956 to a well-known Düsseldorf tool and machine factory. After a few years the car was sold to the USA and remained there until it came back to Germany in 1991. Here, the coupe was completely restored with perfect craftsmanship by a renowned Mercedes specialist between 1993 and 2000. In 2012, the coupe came into the possession of a successful entrepreneur from Düsseldorf, who sold the sought-after sunroof coupe in 2014 to a confirmed lover of classic Mercedes vehicles in the wonderfully beautiful Rheingau region. Most recently, a couple from Nidersachsen enjoyed this dream coupe, from whose collection we may now sell the vehicle.

Between 1993 and 2000, the vehicle was extensively and expertly restored and delivered in concours condition. The body was repaired and repainted. The engine was overhauled. The injection pump as well as the injection nozzles were renewed. All fuel and oil hoses were renewed. A new water cooler was installed as well as a special diaphragm spring clutch. The front axle was removed and repaired. The rear axle was also removed and resealed. Special aluminum bushings were installed in the frame instead of rubber bushings to hold the front axle. The brake system was overhauled and the main wiring harness was replaced. All the interior wood was removed and re-veneered. Seats and trim were reupholstered in leather. All chrome parts, as well as the rear and front bumpers, were removed and partially refitted and chrome plated. Also the tires were renewed. Only original parts were used and if they were not available, they were replaced with parts reproduced from original factory drawings.

The Mercedes series W188 was presented to the public in October 1951 at the Mondial de l'Automobile in Paris. In 1955, the model line, which consisted of a coupe, convertible and roadster, was revised and renamed the 300Sc. In addition to plenty of chrome trim, an elaborate fuel injection system was installed, giving the car a powerful 175 horsepower.

98 units of the 300Sc coupe were built, only 12 of them with a steel sunroof.
