In the mid-1970s, the Mercedes-Benz 450 SEL 6.9 was the automotive "non plus ultra" par excellence. 286 strong horsepower from 7 liters displacement brought the actually heavy luxury sedan sports car values. Not infrequently, a 6.9 liter was presented with the words: "he is good for 40 meters black track".
He was considered the best car in the world in his day and set standards in many ways, especially in unmatched passive safety. Delivered in elegant Orient red Mercedes 450 SEL 6.9 was equipped with noble, beige leather, was completed in December 1979 and brought to the US. Here it was delivered via Palmer Imports in Long Beach, California, to his first owner. The first owner was one of the founding members of the Mercedes-Benz Club of America (Channel Islands Section). The car remained in his possession for many years. In the club newspaper "The Star" (March magazin edition, April 1990) was the title of the 6.9-liter car with multi-page report. In the early 2000s, the car came into the possession of a German -born, noble couple in San Luis Obispo, California, very close to the Morro Bay, the Gibraltar of the Pacific.
In 2008, the car was acquired by the founders of a global engineering company in El Cerrito, California, from which we ultimately acquired the car. We have the 450 SEL 6.9 undergone a major restoration and converted to the German optics. A great result. A noble luxury sedan with almost infinite power, lush space, high comfort and good comprehensible history.
