This Mercedes Benz 280SL Pagoda delivered in attractive (576G) red was delivered according to our records on August 23, 1968 to its first owner, a member of the US Navy in the USA. The car was equipped with a 4 speed manual transmission, black MB Tex, Becker radio and a hardtop painted in the color of the car. The first owner kept the car until 1972 and the new owner took great pleasure in the sensational roadster and kept the car for a total of 22 years before giving it to his niece in Massachusetts in 1994. She had a teaching job at the university and lived within walking distance. So over the next 17 years, the car was driven just 829 miles. In 2011, the 3rd owner to date sold the car. In 2014, the Pagoda was relinquished again and finally came into our possession in Germany in the spring of 2016.
An interesting Pagoda with a comprehensible history, which would have been immediately ready for extended trips. Our plans for the vehicle, however, were different. Under our direction, the car underwent an extensive restoration. The task was to achieve a quality restoration at the highest level of craftsmanship. See for yourself, the goal was excellently achieved. The body has been extensively reworked and repainted, axles and transmission have been overhauled, the engine has been tested and fine-tuned after passing the pressure loss test. Powerful running and a clean compression pattern underline the result. To upgrade the interior and give the overall look the final touch, we decided to upgrade the interior with fine leather in cognac instead of the original MB-Tex. A soft top in dark brown makes this Pagoda a real eye-catcher. All in all a special Pagoda, which knows how to convince with its unique charm and inspires with manual transmission. Get in and experience this dream pagoda with all your senses.
