UNIQUE ORIGINAL CONDITION

This Mercedes-Benz 300 SEL 3.5 with the powerful 200hp 3 ½ engine was delivered on 23.12.1970 to a long-established law firm in the Saarbrücken area. It remained until autumn 1976 with the first owner.

The hotelier Charles Mertz from Neuwiller le Saverne in neighbouring Alsace bought the elegant limousine in September 1976 and drove it until May 2010. He had turned 75 in the meantime and hardly drove any more. So the Mercedes was deregistered and stayed for some time in the garage of his hotel (Hotel Restaurant Geiswiller), which he sold in 2012 for health reasons. In 2016 Charles Mertz died at the age of 81. The Mertz family still lives in an impressive old villa in Rue de la Cote Saverne 17 in F-67700 Neuwiller le Saverne.

The limousine then returned to Germany. The sensational original condition of the car impressively proves the low mileage of only 90.000km. The paintwork had faded over the years despite the best care and needed to be renewed. Also the underbody area was restored to a nearly new condition. The discreet Arab grey underlines the distinguished appearance of the saloon. The dark blue velour interior is still preserved in almost mint condition. The technology was completely checked and, where necessary, professionally repaired by a Mercedes Classic Partner. The engine is bursting with power and motivates to tackle even long journeys. The comfortable air suspension ensures safe handling and pleasant damping even on bad roads.
