This Mercedes-Benz 300SL Roadster was completed in the factory on 9 December 1957 and made available for delivery to the customer. The first owner was the ROMA garage of Robert May & Sohn in the east of Frankfurt am Main. The car was subsequently sold to the USA. Bob Estes, a very well known car collector had brought it from Virginia in 1997 and included it in his collection. The documented speedometer reading at that time was 84,514 mls. Bob Estes hardly ever drove the car and handed it over to his son Dale Estes, who obviously did not find the time to drive the elegant roadster either. In 2001 the car was purchased by the renowned Mercedes classic expert Scott Grundfor in Kalamazoo Michigan. The excellent condition of the car and today's speedometer reading of only 84,983 indicates that the car has also undergone a major overhaul here. In 2001 the car went to Dr. Morton C. Wellington in Jacksonville/Florida, a lover and also collector of classic cars. Dr. Wellington is well known in the local classic car scene for his participation in top-class Concours events with his 1926 Rolls-Royce Piccadilly Roadster. 2012 the elegant 300SL Roadster was acquired by Richard Wolf, a respected history professor at the University of Santa Barbara. Afterwards the vehicle was added to an exquisite collection of exquisite individual pieces, from which the vehicle is now being sold. A uniquely beautiful matching numbers roadster in original paint and interior color scheme, equipped with rare Rudge hub caps. Do not miss it.
